Every worker must upload their PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) certificate before they can accept any shift. Our compliance team verifies documents with the relevant disclosure body — Disclosure Scotland, the DBS in England & Wales, or AccessNI in Northern Ireland. Workers with expired or invalid PVGs are automatically suspended from shift matching until renewed.
Our average shift fill time is 42 minutes. When you post an emergency shift, CareBirds instantly broadcasts to all eligible, verified workers within your specified radius. Workers can accept in one tap, and you're notified immediately. For same-day cover, most roles are filled within the hour.
All workers need a valid PVG certificate, right-to-work documentation, and completed mandatory training (Moving & Handling, Adult Support & Protection, First Aid). Role-specific requirements — such as NMC registration for nurses — are verified separately. We support support workers, nurses, carers, and healthcare assistants.
Facilities are invoiced weekly by CareBirds based on verified GPS check-in/out times. The invoice covers the shift rate plus the platform fee. CareBirds then disburses earnings directly to workers via bank transfer, along with HMRC-compliant payslips. All timesheets are countersigned digitally via the handover report at shift end.
